How we are regulated
Verion Partners is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Our Firm Reference Number is 683988. We are directly authorised, which means we answer to the FCA ourselves rather than through a network.
You can check our details on the Financial Services Register at register.fca.org.uk or by calling the FCA on 0800 111 6768.
What we can help with
Our FCA permissions allow us to advise on and arrange:
- residential mortgages, including remortgages and home finance
- consumer buy-to-let mortgages
- life insurance, critical illness cover, income protection and other protection insurance
- general insurance, such as buildings, contents and commercial cover
- credit, as a credit broker and not a lender
We can also help with commercial finance and some business buy-to-let lending. Much of this is not regulated by the FCA. See the section on business that is not regulated below.
Where our products come from
For mortgages we search a wide range of lenders, including through the mortgage clubs on our panel. Before we give advice we will tell you in writing whether we are looking at the whole market or a limited panel, so you know the range you are choosing from.
Protection insurance is arranged with insurers from our panel. We will name the insurers we compared when we make our recommendation.
How we are paid
We are usually paid commission by the lender or insurer when a mortgage completes or a policy starts. Some cases also carry a fee for our advice. We will always tell you, in writing and before you commit, whether a fee applies, how much it is and when it is payable, and how much commission we expect to receive.
Your money
We do not hold client money. We will never ask you to pay a deposit, premium or loan amount to us. These are paid directly to the lender, insurer or solicitor.
Business that is not regulated
Most commercial finance, bridging loans for business purposes, development finance and buy-to-let mortgages taken out for business purposes are not regulated by the FCA. Where something we arrange for you is not regulated, we will tell you before you proceed. For unregulated business you may not be able to refer a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service or claim from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme
We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If we cannot meet our obligations, you may be entitled to compensation. For mortgage advice and arranging, the limit is currently £85,000 per person. For insurance advice and arranging, protection such as life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection is covered in full, and most other insurance is covered at 90% of the claim with no upper limit. You can find out more at fscs.org.uk.
If you are unhappy
If something goes wrong, please tell us so we can put it right. Our complaints procedure explains how to raise a complaint and how to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service if you are not satisfied with our answer.
Important
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
If you are thinking of consolidating existing borrowing, you should be aware that you may be extending the terms of the debt and increasing the total amount you repay.
